STOW ...
In His Own Words!

My name is STOW - a.k.a. "D Holla Jay"; born in Ifeanyichukwu Onji, Nigeria, in 1984.
I am, originally, of the Ibo Tribe. I moved to England in 2001, while still in my teens to join my mom and sister.
Growing up was pretty tough for me. I got into trouble which landed me in prison. I did my time in Feltham and Portland Y.O.I. (Youth Offenders' Institution). That was in 2003. My crime was drug smuggling. Fortunately, I did 22 months of my 3 years 9 months sentence due to good behaviour. Since I couldn't get a job upon my release, I started hustling. As a result, I got into rap. I did 5 mix-tapes and 4 demos ... all on my own, as I patiently struggled to secure a recording contract. There were no positive results. |
In February of 2003, I got caught at Heathrow Airport for smuggling of drugs from Guyana. Going to prison once again served as a wake-up call for me.
On my release in January 2005, I could not get a job due to a restricted order imposed upon me.
At this point, I decided to take my rap music very seriously since that seemed to be the only route that would help keep me away from the drama I was facing in my life.
Things began to look up for me in 1965. I was able to work my way. I enrolled at Newham College of Further Education (East Ham Campus); based in East London.
I am, today, a straight, hard working rapper; even though still smoking and blazing.
My wife, SADE and I together have three kids; a daughter born November 2006, another daughter born March 2008, and a son born June 2009.
My philosophy in life today is
- Ability is what you're capable of doing
|
- Motivation determines what you do
- Attitude determines how well you do it
My life, ill-fated as it had been for me during my younger days, should serve as an inspiration to others. I believe that what ever the obstacles one is faced with, with conviction, determination and the right attitude, success will come; eventually.
One, despite the rough and tough times that stand in the way to daunt the future, ought never to call it quite.
Perseverance, once you are positive of your natural... God-given talents, is the main ingredient necessary to open doors to a productive future. I have experienced hardship. But, it's that hardship that pushes me on...And, I am, by all means, heading for the top! |
