On the compilation CD, “Women of the World Acoustic”, Putumayo World Music have brought together eleven thrilling, soothing and captivating melodies by some of the world’s favourite female singing voices from around the globe.
On this remarkable collectible production, the folk harmonies of Canada’s THE WAILIN’ JENNYS join the earthly Algerian melismas of MONA BOUTCHENAK. African serenades, KAISSA and LAURA are heard alongside Latin American singer/songwriters, MARTA GOMEZ and LUCA MUNDACA. From Europe, the songs of France’s SANDRINE KIBERLAIN, Iceland’s EMILIANA TORRINI, Croatia’s TAMARA OBROVAC, Greece’s ANATASIA MOUTSATSOU and the Latin American flavours of the Czech Republic’s MARTA TOPFEROVA combine to offer an inspirational exploration of the spirit and soul of the female voice.
Like all other Putumayo classic collectibles, the album is accompanied by an impressive 32-page booklet that details the musical background of the artists, and valuable information on their music in three major languages; namely: English, French and Spanish.
